Mahwah Predicted To Win State Group Football Championship

Thunderbirds should beat the Panthers 31-24 Friday, according to one report.

In a class one-seed vs. two-seed, Mahwah, the underdog, is expected to come out the winner in the state group football championship Friday at MetLife Stadium.

NJ.com’s Braulio Perez predicts that Mahwah will win if the Thunderbirds’ up-tempo offense overpowers the Panthers. Senior quarterback James Cilento will be relied on to set the tempo early, the website said.

Mahwah is predicted to beat Glen Rock 31-24.

Glen Rock (8-2) won perhaps the greatest playoff game in school history when they beat Hawthorne 35-34 in the semi-final round. Mahwah (10-1) easily dispatched of Pequannock 28-7 in the Thunderbirds second-round game.

The game will be played Friday at 5 p.m. at MetLife Stadium. Tickets cost $9 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and seniors.
