I used to be proud that Eaton Corp. was headquartered in Cleveland. I thought that made us a better city, but not any longer. It's very hard to be proud of a tax dodger. Of course, moving their headquarters to Ireland to avoid paying U.S. taxes is legal, but is it in line with the spirit and responsibility that comes from being American?
If their business was all overseas it would be one thing, but they have numerous multi-million dollar contracts with all of us, with U.S. taxpayers and the U.S. government. Can one make the claim they are being patriotic? I am now saddened and embarrassed to see the real side of our corporate neighbor here in Cleveland.
