Decline Expected for STMicroelectronics N.V. (ADR) Earnings

STMicroelectronics N.V. (ADR) is expected to report lower second-quarter earnings on Thursday, July 23, 2015. Analysts are expecting a 64% drop in earnings from a year ago. The consensus estimate is four cents per share, down from earnings of 11 cents per share a year ago.

Despite not changing over the past month, the consensus estimate is down from three months ago when it was six cents. For the fiscal year, analysts are expecting earnings of 27 cents per share. For the year, revenue is expected to come in at $7.18 billion.

STMicroelectronics N.V's loss in the last quarter came after two previous quarters of profit.

STMicroelectronics designs, develops, manufactures and markets a range of semiconductor products used in a variety of microelectronic applications, including automotive products, computer peripherals and telecommunications systems. Texas Instruments, also in the semiconductors industry, will report earnings on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Analysts are expecting earnings of $0.65 per share for Texas Instruments, up 5% from last year's earnings of $0.62 per share. Other companies in the semiconductors industry with upcoming earnings release dates include: Maxim Integrated Products, Atmel and NXP Semiconductors.
