Warlords of Draenor now part of World of Warcraft base game

Just in time for the movie coming June 10.

Blizzard has been slowly adding more of its expansions to the World of Warcraft base game, and today we get confirmation that Warlords of Draenor, the latest expansion from 2015, has joined all the others prior to the release of the upcoming Warcraft movie and the freebie game.

In a reddit thread about the move, Blizzard customer support rep Araxom confirmed that WoD can no longer be purchased separately. "Separate Warlords copies should no longer be available from retailers, as the registration code for the expansion can no longer be redeemed through Battle.net," he said. "If someone has an unregistered code for the Warlords of Draenor expansion, my recommendation would be to reach out to us via the options this page, and then be able to provide the registration code once you're in touch with us."

He added that if someone had bought the expansion or Battlechest in the last few days, something could probably be worked out in the way of a refund, provided all the documentation was still available. But a few users pointed out that it worked out that players who bought it essentially got a free character boost to 90 for only $10, when a normal boost would run $60.

The addition of Warlords of Draenor to the base game comes just as Blizzard is gearing up for the June 10 release of the Warcraft movie. In a deal with Regal Entertainment Group (and other theater chains worldwide), those attending the movie will get a free digital code for the game that can be redeemed before the end of the year. It will save new players about $20 if they want to get into the game.

A new expansion, Legion, is coming on August 30.
