Lifestyle designer Sam Edelman opened a location Friday at South Coast Plaza. It’s the brand’s third store in California.

“South Coast Plaza is one of California’s top shopping destinations and the perfect home for our newest West Coast retail location,” said Sam Edelman, designer, founder and division president for the Sam Edelman division, in a statement.

The store was designed by Dagnell Folger of Architecture + Information and uses reclaimed wood, rose-colored brass and black leather.

Sam Edelman started in 2004 as a shoe brand. The brand, a division of Caleres, a global footwear company, has since added apparel, jewelry and handbags to its lineup.

Sam Edelman has been in the fashion industry for 30 year and was a co-founder of Kenneth Cole.

In 1987, he created Sam & Libby with his wife. The shoe brand was sold in 1996. He came out of retirement to create Sam Edelman.
