A man on parole for robbery and burglary was jailed Thursday night, accused of driving to a local department store in a stolen car and stealing merchandise.

Mark Griffin Jr., 24, of 520 Poplar Ave. NW in Canton, was arrested at 7:04 p.m. Thursday at Kohl’s, 5478 Dressler Rd. NW, on charges of receiving stolen property and theft, Stark County Jail records said.

The vehicle had been stolen in Akron, the jail records said. The merchandise he was accused of stealing from the store wasn’t listed.

Griffin was on parole, having served time in prison for a robbery and a burglary that took place in Summit County in 2011, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction website at www.drc.ohio.gov.

Griffin remained in the jail early Friday, held in lieu of $52,000 bond pending a hearing in Massillon Municipal Court.
