Steven Michael Vaughn, Sr.

Steven Michael "Uncle Steve" Vaughn, Sr. age 57 passed away Jan. 14. 

Mr. Vaughn was born in Savannah on Dec. 11, 1959 to the late James Randall Vaughn and Josephine Faircloth Vaughn Hall.  He was a long-time resident of Black Creek and worked at Rite-Way Upholstery. He loved family time, was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed billiards and was the life of the party.

Survivors include his daughter Joanna Nicole Vaughn (Michael Gonzalez); two sons Steven Michael "Buster" Vaughn, Jr. of Black Creek and James Robert "Robbie" (Mary Ann) Vaughn of Brooklet; sisters, Darlene (Ricky) Dickey, Cathy (Dan) Thompson, and Susie (Jimmy) Criswell all of Black Creek; 15 grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Jan. 17 at the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home. His funeral service was Jan. 18 a.m. in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home. Interment followed in Northside Cemetery.

Christopher Michael Harrell, Sr.

Aug. 30, 1984 - Jan. 18, 2017

ELLABELL - Mr. Christopher Michael Harrell, Sr., 32, passed away suddenly on Jan. 18 at Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Harrell, Sr. was born on Aug. 30, 1984 to Michael Harrell and Margie Waters in Savannah. He worked for Epting Distributors in the warehouse and making deliveries. Mr. Harrell, Sr. enjoyed video games, anime and was a member of Merrywood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Brittany Harrell; three sons, Christopher (C.J.) Harrell, Jr., Connor Harrell, Landen Harrell and one unborn son, Aiden Harrell; two brothers, Andy Mock and Tony Mock both of Savannah; two aunts, Barbara Scott and Victoria Bernier whom raised him.

The family will receive friends on Jan. 21 from 10 - 11 a.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held on Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Rusty Manning officiating.

Burial will be private.

Homer Lee Johnson

ELLABELL - Homer Lee Johnson, 77, died Jan.18.

Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 22, 1939 in Appling County to the late Edgar Allen Son Johnson and the late Gladys May Simmons Johnson. He was a member of Ash Street Baptist Church in Bloomingdale but attended Trinity Baptist Church in Nevils. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Alee Temple Shrine Club, a Charter member & Past President of Bryan County Shrine Club, and a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge. He retired with 43 years of service from the Shipping Department of International Paper Company and was a Past President of the International Paper Quarter Century Society. He also served 16 years on the Board of Directors with Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Lee Johnson and sisters, Jennell Johnson and Cora Lee Lightsey.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years Jeannette Herrington Johnson; two sons, Randall (Jennifer) Johnson and Phil (Tina) Johnson; sister, Lounell (Allen Little Bit) Lightsey; grandchildren, Joseph Johnson, Eva Johnson, Rose Johnson and Alan Johnson.

Funeral services will be Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home in Baxley. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. at the Swain Funeral Home. Interment will be in Zoar Cemetery.
