3 Canadians seek 1st career wins on 3 different tours
Three Canadians are in the hunt on their respective tours going into the final round, and all of them are seeking their first career victories. Here's a look at each golfer and what they're playing for:
Graham DeLaet - PGA Tour
DeLaet sits in second position after 54 holes at the RBC Heritage, just one back of Jason Dufner heading into Sunday.
A victory would make him the third Canadian to win on tour this season, joining Mackenzie Hughes, who won the RSM Classic, and Adam Hadwin, who claimed the Valspar Championship.
On four occasions, two Canucks have won in the same year, but there's never been a season with three Canadian winners.
Year | Player | Player |
---|---|---|
1957 | Al Balding | Stan Leonard |
2004 | Mike Weir | Stephen Ames |
2007 | Mike Weir | Stephen Ames |
2017 | Mackenzie Hughes | Adam Hadwin |
Alena Sharp - LPGA Tour
Sharp enters the final round of the Lotte Championship tied for second place. Her highest finish came last year at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open, where she placed fourth.
Stephen Ames - PGA Tour Champions
Stephen Ames, a four-time PGA Tour winner, holds a one-shot lead over five others at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic in Georgia. Ames carded a 4-under-par 68 on Saturday.
''I'm not anxious, not anxious at all,'' the 52-year-old told the Golf Channel. ''I'm very comfortable right now in the situation. The main thing that I'm really comfortable about is how I feel about my golf swing and being a lot more in control of my anxiety and my feelings and all that when I'm playing.''
