Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez has stressed that the club are not looking to sell ace midfielder, Jonathan Viera. Speaking on the Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, as reported by Canaris7, Ramirez said, “Neither Jonathan Viera is for sale nor do we want to sell him. If someone came with the clause money, we would still try to persuade Viera to stay”.

The attacking midfielder, who scored 7 goals and provided 7 assists last season in the La Liga has been linked with Everton (as reported by Marca) and Swansea (as reported by Wales Online) during the transfer window.
According to the BBC, Swansea have rejected a £40 million bid from Everton for Gylfi Sigurdsson which puts both teams in a delicate situation. One way or the other, it is highly likely that one of the two teams would be left without an attacking midfielder, and that is where Jonathan Viera may come in.
With the attacking midfielder’s £26 million release clause (as reported by Marca), it allows Swansea an easy opportunity to reinvest in case Everton come back with an improved bid for Sigurdsson which meets the Welsh club’s demands.
However, if Everton are priced out of a deal for the Iceland international, the Toffees can look at Viera as a cheaper alternative leaving both clubs with an opportunity to sign the former Valencia man.
Of course, they would have to convince the former Valencia man to leave, which despite Miguel Ángel Ramírez’s comments might not be that difficult given the glitz and glamour of the Premier League. Watch this space.
