Roundup: Twin Lakes tops Northwestern

Twin Lakes and Northwestern exchanged turnovers that led to touchdowns in the second quarter. Dane Holmes recovered a Northwestern fumble on the Tigers 10, setting up Blake Bennington's 1-yard touchdown run and Ryan Hibbets' kick that gave the Indians a 14-13 lead with 2:22 to go in the first half.

Hibbets added a 36-yard field goal in the third quarter but Northwestern regained the lead for the final time at 21-17. Once again, Blake Bennington helped put Twin Lakes back on top, hauling in a 56-yard touchdown pass from twin brother Bryce to make it 24-21 later in the quarter.

Blake Bennington followed up with another big play, this one an 82-yard touchdown pass to Sam Ryan to increase the advantage to 31-21 in the fourth quarter.

Twin Lakes took control thanks to a Blake Bennington 68-yard touchdown run one play after a fumble recovery by Riley Marvin. Northwestern's fourth fumble of the night set up another Blake Bennington touchdown run, this one going 16 yards to make it 45-21 with 7:14 to play.

Big games from Logan Harmeson and Austin Durham powered the host Red Ramblers (2-0).

Harmeson rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns while also completing 22 of 31 passes for 299 yards and four scores. Durham caught 14 of those passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns.

All four of Harmeson's touchdown passes came in the first quarter when Attica erased an early 7-0 deficit to take a 28-7 lead.

Clinton Prairie quarterback Chase Joseph nearly matched Harmeson's passing feats, throwing for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Sam Schoonveld rushed for 105 yards and a TD and caught four passes for 106 yards and a score for the Gophers (1-1).

North Newton 0

Austin Grist rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns, while Garrett Eldridge picked up 108 and two scores for the visiting Bombers (1-1).

Sam Ahler triggered a 22-point first quarter for Rensselaer with a 31-yard touchdown run. On the Bombers' next possession, Eldridge went 68 yards for a score and Keegan Stevens' two-point run made it 14-0.

Ahler's second touchdown run, this time from the 1, and Eldridge's two-point run rounded out the scoring in the first quarter. Eldrdige added a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

Frontier 6

Jarod Shane rushed for 142 yards and four touchdowns, leading a North White running game that accumulated 396 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Vikings (2-0) were in control all the way, taking a 35-0 halftime lead on three touchdown runs from Shane, a touchdown pass from Jake Quasebarth to Caleb Hendress and a Hendress interception return for a score.

Frontier (0-2) got on the board with 8:24 to play in the third quarter thanks to a Colt McCracken 6-yard touchdown pass to Danyon McCracken.

Two Bayley Adams touchdown passes to Devon Zachary and Alex Parsons in the second half weren't enough for the Chargers (1-1) to erase a 14-0 halftime deficit.

Adams was 12 of 27 for 206 yards passing, with Parson grabbing six for 104.
