Sempra Energy Announces 28% Fall In Q3 Bottom Line

Sempra Energy (SRE) reported a profit for third quarter that fell from last year.

The company said its earnings declined to $250 million, or $1.00 per share. This was down from $348 million, or $1.39 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.88 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 11.7% to $2.48 billion. This was down from $2.81 billion last year.
