OXFORD, Miss. — A clinic in Oxford, Mississippi has notified the public it was the victim of a cyber-attack by suspected Russian hackers.

The hack was discovered on August 2 when Urgent Care Clinic staff noticed the server was running slow.

According to the letter sent out to patients, the server was held for ransom.

The remote access to the server was immediately shut down, and the FBI was notified.

During the incident, the hackers had access to patients’ names, social security numbers, dates of birth and other personal information.

It’s unclear which patients were affected by the data breach.

All patients are encouraged to check all credit card and bank accounts to ensure all activity is familiar to you.
