Crossroads Pavilion Center Of Council Discussion

Events Center 9Sheldon, Iowa — Crossroads Pavilion was the center of most of the discussion at Wednesday’s Sheldon City Council meeting.  The council discussed the make-up and duties of the advisory board that will oversee the operation of the new events center.  They decided the board should have seven voting members.  Two of those will be city council members, the other five, to be appointed by the mayor and city council, will be mainly people from within the Sheldon Community School District, or someone living outside the school district who has a strong interest in the Sheldon community.  The Sheldon City Manager will also serve on the advisory board as a non-voting member.

The council also reviewed the job description for the new manager of the events center.  The City is taking applications for that position until February 22nd.

After a public hearing the council approved a budget amendment for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.   This included the addition of several expenses and receipts related to the events center that were not in the original budget.
