Three Lansing Police officers involved in accident

The Lansing Police Department tells News 10 three officers were injured in an accident around in the early afternoon of Friday, July 22, 2016.

The officers were leading a memorial procession for Ingham Township Fire Chief Tim Whipple. The officers were on motorcycles, traveling south on Pennsylvania Avenue near Dexter when two of the officers on motorcycles collided at low speed.

A third officer was involved when he swerved to avoid hitting the two motorcycles that had collided.

All three officers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There is no information at this time as to the identities of the officers involved. All three are men, who belong to the Lansing Police Department.

Pennsylvania Avenue was re-opened around 1:00 PM, 30-45 minutes after the accident happened.

Lansing Police Department is investigating.the accident.
