BC, Riga, 03.02.2016.Print version
The first industrial 3D printing technology center for small-scale production of plastic products in the Baltics has been opened in Riga, representatives of Baltic3D.eu company told LETA.

Investments in the project total EUR 0.5 million, of which EUR 174,500 came from the Norwegian financial instrument administrated by the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, and the company also took a loan from Citadele Banka.

The industrial 3D printing center has nine advanced industrial 3D printers, including seven purchased from Stratasys, the world's leading manufacturer of 3D printers.

Janis Jatnieks, the head of Baltic3D.eu, said the company was mostly serving industrial companies for which 3D printing was helpful in organization of production and reduction of costs. ”The newly-opened printing center already offers development of high-precision functioning prototypes, small-scale production of end products and assistance with optimization of existing production processes,” he said.

”3D printing technologies enable our customers to reduce costs compared with the conventional methods and to save money and time in creation of new products,” Jatnieks said.

Baltic3D.eu also intends to compete on the international market. At present it already serves companies in the Baltics, Belarus, Poland and Scandinavian countries.
