GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Vidant Medical Center receives a grant for over 20,000 dollars.

Kohl’s Care’s program provided the grant, which was given Friday at Kohl’s Department Store in Greenville. Vidant employees also handed out free materials on keeping kids safe in the community.

Kohl’s sells books, teddy bears and lunch boxes for five dollars and donates 100 percent of the proceeds to community hospital programs.

“It’s very important that money is able to be utilized in the local community. Kohl’s is a great corporate sponsor and it’s really neat that they allow us to use the money right here in our own community,” says Ellen Walston.

Walston says the money will be used to purchase helmets for bikes, car seats, and teach children sports safety with new equipment.
