CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Customers of Piedmont Natural Gas in North Carolina can expect to pay about $1 more per month beginning this summer.
The Charlotte Observer reported (http://bit.ly/1IcrMif) that state regulators approved the increase because of higher costs for natural gas.
The company said customers are still paying about $23 less on their bills than they did this time last year.
The increase starts this month and will continue through October.
Piedmont spokesman David Trusty said the company reviews its rates each month and decides whether to request increases or price cuts.
