Networking, cable trends focus of Western Wayne Banquet

An evening of influential networking and collaborating with political and business leaders from communities along the I-275 corridor returns Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The third annual Western Wayne Business Leadership Banquet, presented by Bank of America and Comcast Cable, returns to Ford Motor Company Conference and Event Center in Dearborn. Corporate table sponsorships and individual seats remain available.

“This event not only provides valuable information, it is also serves as a catalyst for relationship building between business and political leaders,” said Tracey Schultz-Kobylarz, Redford Township’s supervisor and chair for the Conference of Western Wayne Board. “As a result of events like this, we are able to work together, blend geographical lines and put our best collective proposals forward for the betterment of the region.”

The Conference of Western Wayne, a municipal advocacy organization serving the region’s 18 cities and townships, teams with local chambers of commerce to coordinate this program designed to build stronger municipal-business relationships in a region that represents 700,000 residents and more than 54 percent of Wayne County’s tax base.

The Banquet emcee will be Mary Kramer, publisher of Crain’s Detroit Business, and the keynote speaker will be Tim Collins, Comcast Cable’s regional senior vice president, who will discuss how new market forces and technology are impacting cable television and Internet service.

“It is an outstanding opportunity to network with decision makers in our region,” said Dan West, a lead event planner and president of the Livonia Chamber of Commerce. “Like Oakland County and downtown Detroit, we also have a great economic development region here in Western Wayne. This event aims to bring attention to that.”

The program is scheduled to feature the appearance of the city mayors from Belleville, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Garden City, Inkster, Livonia, Northville, Plymouth, Romulus, Wayne and Westland; and the township supervisors from Canton, Huron, Northville, Plymouth, Redford, Sumpter, and Van Buren.
