The Baltimore-based Carnival Pride will leave the city in early 2017 to offer a series of cruises out of Tampa, Carnival announced on Wednesday. But Carnival fans in Baltimore need not worry: The move isn't permanent.

The cruise giant says the 2,124-passenger vessel will operate five- to 14-day voyages out of Tampa in January and February 2017 before shifting back to Baltimore in March 2017.

The sailings will include four seven-night sailings to the Western Caribbean that feature stops in Cozumel, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; Roatan, Honduras; and Grand Cayman Island. A single five-night sailing to the Western Caribbean also is in the works.

The ship's move will kick off Jan. 2, 2017 with a 13-night repositioning cruise from Baltimore to Tampa that boasts stops in Grand Turk; Cartagena, Colombia; Colón, Panama; Limón, Costa Rica; Roatan; Cozumel; and the Dominican Republic.

The ship will return to Baltimore in March 2017 following a 14-night voyage from Tampa that features calls in Cozumel, Limón, Colón, Aruba, Bonaire and St. Maarten.

Normally based year-round in Baltimore, the Carnival Pride also made a detour to Tampa last fall for a series of sailings.
