Appalachian Underwriters, Inc. promoted Carrie Bay to director of marketing. Formerly handling marketing in our Southern region, including Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia, Carrie now will coordinate all marketing efforts for our internal and external marketing staff and provide marketing support to all lines of business that Appalachian Underwriters offers on a national footprint.

Chris Boyer, assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, has been selected to receive an Emerging Scholars Award by the Southern Agricultural Economics Association. The award is presented to high-performing, early-career professionals with demonstrated research and resulting publication activity.

Kenny Montgomery has been promoted to director of sales and business development of Communications Resources Inc. CRI also hired Mark Morrell as enterprise account manager. CRI is headquartered in Chattanooga with branch offices in Knoxville and Birmingham selling ShoreTel business phone systems, unified communications and enterprise contact centers throughout the Southeast.

Regal Entertainment Group promoted Greg Corum to vice president of construction – maintenance/capital improvements/HVAC.

Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation hired Kate Davy as an administrative assistant. Davy previously worked as a business assistant for Blue North Fisheries Inc. in Seattle and a consultant relationship executive in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Owen Driskill was named Roane State Community College’s executive director for the Oak Ridge campus and community relations. Driskill joined Roane State’s staff in 2007 after a 10-year career in journalism as a reporter and editor. He served as Roane State's news coordinator until 2011, when he became the college's director of marketing and public relations.

Swift Industrial Power promoted Daniel Gary to account manager, where he will serve customers in both Tennessee and Kentucky. He has been with the company for 15 years and previously served as a project manager.

Jennifer Houston was named vice president of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

Colleen Iversen, an ecosystem ecologist at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been named an early career fellow of the Ecological Society of America. ESA early career fellows are elected for five-year terms.

Ripley PR hired Bill Mattern as president. Mattern will assist with day-to-day operations and offer clients guidance in business management.

Sanford Miller joined Emerald Youth Foundation as corporate sponsorship director. Miller first worked at Emerald Youth more than a decade ago, where he led Emerald’s sports programs. He then pursued a career in financial services with Home Federal Bank, Primerica and most recently Fifth Third Bank.

The Knoxville Museum of Art hired Mary S. Walker as the KMA’s new director of development. Walker joins the KMA staff after holding several key management and strategic positions in Knoxville and Memphis.

Averitt Express honored associate Mike Webb for 30 years of service. He is one of the more than 900 active Averitt associates who are members of the company’s “Over 20 Team,” an exclusive group of associates who have served 20 or more years with Averitt.

The boards of directors of Mountain Commerce Bancorp, Inc. and its subsidiary, Mountain Commerce Bank, added Douglas A. Yoakley to the holding company and bank boards. With more than 38 years of public practice, Yoakley, a certified public accountant, has provided tax planning and compliance services to a wide variety of business organizations, individuals and industries.
