Less than 24 hours after the Panthers’ NFC Championship win, fans couldn’t wait to hit the stores for official merchandise.

“As soon as they won the game we got phone calls asking if we got it already,” Ryan Raines, assistant manager at Hibbett Sports in Kernersville, said.

A shipment of approximately 300 NFC Championship t-shirts made its way to the store around 6 a.m. Monday.

The store is already preparing for a Panthers Super Bowl win.

Raines says the store will open immediately after the game with Panthers merchandise available if the team is victorious.

People are also looking for Panthers gear for pets ahead of the team’s trip to the Super Bowl.

PetSmart on Lawndale Drive in Greensboro has seen a recent boom in the number of customers interested in its “four-legged fan shop” — which offers Panthers clothing including a cheerleader outfit, jerseys, bandanas and other accessories for pets.

“They’re starting to really pick them up now. People are walking around the store with them,” PetSmart store leader Nikki Weaver said.

Customer Debbie Riffey came to the store to purchase a separate item, but just couldn’t resist an outfit for her Chihuahua.

“I just walked in and I saw this and my husband’s a big Panthers fan, so I have to get this for my dog,” she said.

Many sporting goods stores in the Piedmont received shipments of Panthers NFC Championship merchandise Monday.
