Car stolen in Brunswick

Police are investigating following the theft of a car in Brunswick last month, Victoria Police say.

The owner of the car parked it with the engine running while she ran into a shopping centre on Sydney Road about 8.30pm on 10 November.

When the victim returned to her car she saw an unknown man get into the vehicle and start to drive away.

The victim attempted to stop the offender from driving off but was unsuccessful.

She received minor injuries however did not require ambulance attendance.

Police attended and searched the area for the car which was last seen driving through two red lights further down Sydney Road, one at the intersection of Brunswick Road and then another at the intersection of Royal Parade and Park Street.

A second vehicle, a white Holden Commodore travelling without its headlights on, was seen leaving the same alleyway as the stolen vehicle.

The second car headed north on Sydney Road and investigators believe it was being driven by a man known to the offender.

Police have released CCTV footage of the stolen car and the white Commodore in the hope that a member of the public may recognise the cars or their whereabouts.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
