EUGENE, Ore. - A slow-speed trail derailment Sunday evening resulted in no injuries and no release of hazardous materials, a Union Pacific Railroad spokesperson said Monday.

A tanker car hauling liquefied petroleum gas did not leak and suffered only minimal damage, said Justin Jacobs with Union Pacific.

"That is considered a hazardous material, but there were no releases of that," he said.

All told, 13 cars derailed as the train moved at 3 mph to 5 mph inside the Eugene Yard near Roosevelt Boulevard and Garfield Street around 5 p.m., Jacobs said.

Of those 13 cars, 10 were empty flat bed cars and 1 was an empty grain car.

A grain car loaded with corn spilled its load.

"All of the cars are moved and out of the way and they are cleaning up the corn today," Jacob said Monday. "That's all that's left to be cleared up today."
