Beginning in October until Dec. 7, Shelter Insurance will be collecting both gently used and new coats for The Salvation Army’s Coats for Kids Program. Once coats are collected, Iron Mountain Cleaners will dry clean the coats free of charge. The coats will then be collected by The Salvation Army of Mesquite and given out during the Christmas Angel Tree/Toys for Tots distribution at the Mesquite Boxing Club on Dec. 21.

Both children’s and adult sized coats will be accepted. After the Christmas distribution, the remaining coats will be available at The Salvation Army office located at 355 W. Mesquite Blvd.

“This is a great and necessary program for the community” says Salvation Army Director Captain Lisa Smith. “Without the generosity of both Shelter Insurance and Iron Mountain Cleaners, many people would not be able to have a new coat for the winter, and even though we don’t have super harsh winters, it does get pretty chilly here.”

Anyone interested in donating can call Shelter Insurance at (702) 346-2734 or The Salvation Army at (702) 345-5116.
