Automotive parts provider, Advance Auto Parts continues its rapid expansion into the midstate with the opening of another store in the Mechanicsburg area. The chain's newest store is located in Hampden Twp. at 5263 Simpson Ferry Road.
Advance Auto Parts sells just about anything automotive related and serves both professional installers as well as do-it-yourself customers.
The store will provide a number of free services including free installation for new windshield wipers and a complimentary check of a vehicle's electrical system and old battery, as well as provide free installation of a new battery with purchase on most vehicles. The store will also accept used motor oil and batteries for recycling. Customers can also order products online and pick them up at the store in 30 minutes.
The store employs 10 people. Jay Stong, general manager of the store has 34-years of experience in the automotive and retail sales industries and has been with Advance Auto Parts for 30 years.
Company officials chose the Hampden Twp. location for the store because it's convenient to where the chain's customers live and shop as well as the garages where customers take their vehicles for repair, a press release said.
Headquartered in Roanoke, Va., Advance Auto Parts Inc. operates more than 5,200 stores including stores in Lemoyne, Mechanicsburg, Silver Spring Twp., Hampden Twp, East Pennsboro Twp., Steelton, Swatara Twp., Carlisle, Newberry Twp., Lower Paxton Twp. and Palmyra.
Last year, Advance Auto Parts opened stores in Lemoyne; Penn Twp., York County; Carroll Twp., York County and East Manchester Twp., York County.
The company has over 260 stores in the state. Stores are also expected to open in the York, Columbia and Lancaster areas by the end of the year, according to a company spokesperson.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m., October 16. As part of its grand opening, the store will donate $1,000 to JDRF, a nonprofit organization that works to cure Type 1 Diabetes.
