Mozilla: Don’t need Google’s money anymore
NEW DELHI: Mozilla Foundation, the maker of open-source browser Mozilla, has said that it does not need internet giant Google’s cash in order to remain solvent.
In an interview with CNET, Mozilla Foundation chief business and legal offer Denelle Dixon-Theyer said the organization does not have a commercial relationship with Google "at this point." Google used to bankroll most of Mozilla’s expenses in order to remain the default search engine on the web browser globally. However, Mozilla moved away from the arrangement last year, making arrangements with various search engines in separate regions.
Right now, for example, Baidu and Yandex are the default Firefox search engines in China and Russia, respectively.
