Less than two weeks after winning medals at the U.S. Open, two players from Milpitas-based India Community Center’s Table Tennis Center won gold for the United States at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.
Lily Zhang and Jiaqi Zheng, of Team ICC, along with Yue Wu, of New York Athletic Club, defeated the top seeded Brazilian team to claim the women’s table tennis team title on July 22.
In the table tennis team event, the first team to win three matches wins, with the first two matches being singles, the third doubles and the final two singles.
At the U.S. Open from July 6-11 in Las Vegas, Zhang took silver in U21 women’s singles and Zheng took home bronze in women’s singles and U2600 rating.
