Local Insurance Agent Wins $1,000 Grant for Southold Fire Department

The award is the philanthropist's fifth this year alone.

SOUTHOLD, NY — A local businessman's work has earned the Southold Fire Department a $1,000 grant.

Allstate agency owner Christopher Manfredi recently received the Agency Helping Hands in the Community Award for his commitment to helping others; The Allstate Foundation subsequently awarded funds to the fire department, a release said.

The honor marks Manfredi’s fifth Agency Helping Hands in the Community Award this year, totaling $5,000 in grants to organizations and county departments in 2016.

Earlier this year, Manfredi received four other Agency Helping Hands in the Community Awards that earned the Southold Union Free School District, Greenport Elementary School, Mattituck High School, and the Texting Awareness Foundation Inc., each a $1,000 grant from the Allstate Foundation, according to a release.

“These organizations, schools, and county departments all truly make a difference in the Suffolk County community,” Manfredi said. “These grant funds will help them continue to improve lives and educate many in the surrounding area. I am inspired by the work that they have accomplished and I am proud to be a part of their efforts.”

“Commitment to our communities is a natural extension of what we do every day – protecting people from life’s uncertainties and preparing them for the future,” said Don Rubbo, New York regional sales leader. “With support from The Allstate Foundation, and Christopher Manfredi, these nonprofits, schools, and departments make Suffolk a better, happier place to live.”

The Allstate Foundation awards more than $1 million every year to nonprofit organizations across the country in honor of dedicated Allstate agency owners who give back, a release said.

To be eligible for nomination, Allstate agency owners must volunteer with, mentor or lead a nonprofit of their choice.
