Mazda to halt Indonesian ops as distributorship changes hands

By BERNAMA | 17 October 2016

JAKARTA: PT Mazda Motor Indonesia will halt operations in the country next month as the automobile market was developing rapidly and Mazda had to undertake a drastic management change to cater to the demand.

President director Keizo Okue said Mazda Motor Indonesia had signed an agreement to hand over the distribution rights for Mazda cars in Indonesia to the Singapore-based Eurokars Group.

With the closure, all 45 dealers and MMI employees would come under the ownership of PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia in February 2017.

"Eurokars will also be responsible for the warranty and customer service of all Mazda cars sold, prior to the take-over," he said in the statement.
