Titan Machinery’s outposts in northern Minnesota will partner with Northland Community and Technical College to train new workers, thanks to $293,378 in state funding.
North Dakota-based Titan will use the grant, from the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership, to furnish more skilled workers for its agriculture, construction and consumer product operations. The effort will focus on Roseau, Crookston, Moorhead and Thief River Falls.
In particular, the funding – administered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development – will beef up the company’s pool of advanced technicians that work in segments like robotics and global positioning systems.
“This grant is expected to help this specialized industry meet demand and increase the skillset of precision technicians – a win-win for the regional economy,” DEED Commission Katie Clark Sieben said in a statement.
Titan will work with Northland to develop curriculum for the three-year proejct. The program will support 75 trainees, and 42 of them will be new to the company, according to DEED. New participants will eventually transition to a paid internship with Titan.
Since it launched in 2011, the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership has doled out $34.5 million to support programs that trained 37,554 workers.
