Local farmers honored by IA Soybean Association

The Iowa Soybean Association recently celebrated the accomplishments of past, current, and future leaders in the soybean industry at an awards banquet earlier this week. Among those honored included fifth-generation farmer Roy Bardole of Rippey. Bardole is a former ISA president, American Soybean Association leader and United Soybean Board member and was presented The Legacy of Leadership Award for his years spent as a dedicated leader for farmers, the soybean industry and the environment.

Mike Bravard, a third-generation farmer from Jefferson, received The Environmental Stewardship Award for his commitment to conservation and championing water quality practices. Bravard’s farming practices include conservation tillage, cover crops, and maintaining terraces and waterways. He’s also worked with the ISA to install a bioreactor to improve nutrient management at his farm.

Calhoun County native, Darcy Maulsby who hangs her hat in Yetter, was honored with The Friend of the Iowa Soybean Farmer Award. Maulsby works as an agricultural journalist and shares information about where food comes from and the values which consumers and farming family’s share in a variety of ag oriented publications.

Other award recipients include Vance Ohnemus of Milo who was recognized as The Rising Star Award and Brent Renner of Klemme who received The New Leader Award. The Iowa Soybean Association is governed by an elected volunteer board of 21 farmers and was founded in 1964.
