Vlogger Shamed In Walmart Fitting Room Because She Might 'Stretch' Clothes

The employee appears to tell her, "Just don't try to push it."

A vlogger has spoken out about being shamed by a Walmart employee who asked her not to try on clothes because she might "stretch" them.

Shiann Friesen, whose YouTube channel ShiCurves focuses on fashion and beauty, first mentioned the incident in a video posted in December for her "Vlogmas" series. She also recently discussed it in more detail in a video posted on Jan. 26. Both videos include the same footage that appears to show a Walmart employee telling Friesen, who requested to try on clothes, to not "try to push it" or "try to put on something that is obviously not going to fit."

"Don’t stretch it. That’s all I ask," the employee said in the video. "I’m not trying to be impertinent or anything."

In the most recent video about her experience (watch above), Friesen said she felt "discriminated against" and explained that the employee asked her to not try on a specific sweater. The vlogger said she wouldn't, but still wanted to buy the sweater and requested to take it in the fitting room with her. In a block of text that appeared in the video, she wrote that she tried on all the clothes and returned to the employee.

"I told her I tried them on and they aren’t stretched, they all fit," read the text. "She got VERY argumentive [sic], that I should not be trying clothes on because SHE didn’t think they were my size… which they all were."

Friesen said she has since been in touch with Walmart's customer service and, with the exception of an initial unsatisfactory encounter with a manager, the other employees she has spoken to are "extremely sorry and extremely shocked" about the incident.

After explaining the situation, Friesen closed her video with an encouraging message for viewers.

"I just want you guys to know nobody has the right to discriminate against you," she said. "And if that happens you need to be vocal about it and stand up for yourself because not only are you standing up for yourself as a person, but you're standing up for human beings in general."
