Australia were frustrated by rain as only 29 overs were possible on day two of their three-day tour match at Derby.

The tourists declared on their overnight score of 413-9 after David Warner and Shaun Marsh both hit centuries on the first day.

Injury-hit Aussie paceman Pat Cummins marked his first game in first-class cricket for two years with a wicket as Hamish Rutherford was caught behind.

Derbyshire reached 81-2 at lunch before rain prevented any further play.

The umpires eventually abandoned play for the day at 15:00 BST.

Australia are fielding both their wicketkeepers in this game, but it was Peter Nevill - who played in the second Test - who took the gloves and caught New Zealand international Rutherford for 14.

Brad Haddin, who missed that Test for personal reasons, was in the outfield, while it was an under-strength Aussie attack on show, with their four front-line Test bowlers rested.

The only other wicket of the day came when all-rounder Shane Watson, left out of the second Test, had Ben Slater (20) caught by Adam Voges off a top edge at first slip.

The third Test begins at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
