The U.S. Department of Labor is honoring the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act with a special visit to McLean by a pair of politicians.

U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez and Rep. Don Beyer head to McLean on July 23 to take a tour of the Northrop Grumman facility on Colshire Drive and to host a roundtable discussion highlighting the best workplace practices to accommodate people with disabilities.

Perez and Beyer will tour the facility and meet with employees to learn about the company’s effort regarding disability hiring and employment. The event will run from 9:30-11 a.m.

The visit was inspired by Northrop Grumman’s 100 percent rating on the inaugural Disability Equality Index, an evaluation of company policies and practices on disability inclusion. The index was compiled by the U.S. Business Leadership Network and the American Association of People with Disabilities.
