Ameriprise Financial Inc. (AMP) reported earnings for its third quarter that rose from last year.
The company said its bottom line rose to $429 million, or $2.35 per share. This was higher than $407 million, or $2.10 per share, in last year's third quarter.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $2.33 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said revenue for the quarter fell 7.1% to $2.89 billion. This was down from $3.11 billion last year.
