Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs Receives $50,000 Donation from Frontier Communications

Donation will be used to implement health benefit programs for Connecticut Veterans

Frontier Communications today announced it has made the first of three $50,000 donations to the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs (CTDVA) in support of its pilot program to improve the adoption and utilization of “My HealtheVet” and “Home Telehealth” programs.

The CTDVA program is designed to provide Connecticut Veterans with easy online access to information regarding their health benefits. Frontier’s donation will support the program through a combination of subsidized broadband service and the purchase of tablets and other Internet-enabled devices to assist Veterans throughout the benefits process.

“The goal of this program is to make sure our Veterans are aware of all the health benefits available to them and to provide them with the tools needed to timely and easily access this information and health services,” said Sean Connolly, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs. “Frontier’s donation will not only help us achieve our goals, but also will improve the quality of life for a deserving group of Connecticut Veterans.”

Frontier has also worked with the Office of the Attorney General and the Office of the Consumer Counsel to include within the PURA approved settlement the implementation of additional programs that benefit eligible, low-income Veterans across the state. These programs include broadband service offered at a reduced rate of $19.99 per month (regularly $34.99), with free modem, free installation ($149.99 value) and a free first month of service.

Additionally, Frontier now offers “Frontier Emergency Connect Service,” a service that enables customers to dial 911 only, without committing to a monthly landline, for free to eligible, low-income Veterans.

“Frontier has a long-standing corporate commitment to Veterans. Currently, Veterans make up more than 13 % of the Frontier workforce. We are proud to support Connecticut Veterans through this donation to the CTDVA,” said Paul Quick, Frontier SVP & GM for CT. “We look forward to working with the CTDVA in the coming months to host a job fair for Veterans interested in employment opportunities with Frontier in an effort to add more qualified Veterans to our talented group of employees.”
