Bowman Park Getting Nearly 50 Donated Trees

Trees help call attention to environment while reminding people to call officials before digging.

ROUND ROCK, TX -- Apparently, in Round Rock, it is easy being green.

City officials have scheduled a Friday ceremony in Bowman Park, where 47 donated trees will be planted. The trees come courtesy of Atmos Energy Corp. and the Texas Trees Foundation, donating 811 trees across the state.

The total number of trees promotes the state’s 811 line designed for residents or businesses to call before digging to ensure no utility lines are present beneath the soil.

“We are thrilled to partner with Texas 811 and the Texas Trees Foundation to create a long lasting positive impact across the communities we serve, John Paris, president of the Mid-Tex division of Atmos Energy, said in a prepared statement. “Natural gas is a clean and efficient fuel source and planting trees ensures a cleaner and greener Texas.”

The Fueling Greener and Cleaner Community initiative involves the planting of trees across Texas starting in August and finishing up in April 2016, in time for National Safe Digging Month.

The local tree planting is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bowman Park, located at 950 E. Bowman Rd.
