West Roxbury Pipeline Opponents Plan Protest Sunday

BOSTON (AP) — Protesters opposing the construction of a natural gas pipeline are planning to form a human chain along the pipe's planned route.

Resist the Pipeline and Stop the West Roxbury Lateral say more than 100 people are expected to take part in the demonstration Sunday afternoon.

They plan to march along the route of the West Roxbury Lateral gas pipeline and form a human chain at the Dedham-Boston city line.

A worship service led by local clergy and a short rally will precede the march in Dedham.

The Spectra Energy pipeline project involves building a natural gas pipeline through Dedham and West Roxbury and ending at a blasting quarry.

The federally-approved project has drawn concerns from Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, U.S. Sen. Ed Markey and others.
