The Jackson County Sheriff's Office reported the following incidents:

WELFARE CHECK: On July 21, Deputy Christopher Peters was dispatched to Cane Creek Road, where a juvenile had reportedly run away. When the deputy arrived, he found the residence to be unsafe for the three children living in the house, with a bathroom having fallen through the floor, a missing outside wall, missing walls in the living room, which left the home open to the outside, bare electrical wires hanging from the kitchen ceiling and a blocked front door. The children were removed from the house.

THEFT: On July 21, Deputy Jesse Fowler was dispatched to Cooper Farm Road, where a woman reported she came home to find her tablet and a pair of diamond earrings stolen. The bathroom floor was flooded because the toilet was damaged. The victim believes her boyfriend and one of his friends may be responsible.

THEFT: On July 24, Deputy Mark Pulliam was dispatched to Chelsey Court, where a woman said she returned home from the store and saw an 18-year-old man and woman running out of her house. She said she believes they stole the key to her gun lock.

CARD FRAUD: On July 24, Deputy Joshua Morris was dispatched to Staghorn Trail, where a man said someone had been using his credit card information to make purchases. The victim reported American Express told him of the suspicious transactions and he found multiple purchases to stores including Bed Bath & Beyond, Southwestern Firearms and L.L. Bean, adding to about $3,000. The victim learned about the fraud when onlinesports.com contacted him because a $1,195 purchase was made that had a shipping address for a church in Alma.

CAR FIRE: On July 24, Deputy Joseph Chastain was dispatched to I-85, where a tractor-trailer rig was on fire. The driver said he was carrying a trailer full of trash when he noticed other motorists staring at him. He then saw smoke coming from the trailer, so he pulled over and realized the smoke was coming from inside the trailer. He is unsure as to how the fire started, but the fire department was able to put it out.

SUSPICIOUS NOISE: On July 24, Deputy Conrad Davis was dispatched to Psalms Drive, where a man said he heard the sound of a small child screaming outside his house. When the deputy searched the area, they discovered the odd sound was made by baby goats in a pasture behind the man's house.

IDENTITY THEFT: On July 24, Deputy David Marcus was dispatched to Liberty Bell Run, where a woman said someone had been using her identity to obtain a credit card. The victim said Macy's called her the next day saying someone tried to purchase a lot of jewelry using her Social Security number. When checking her credit report, she found someone from West Newberry, N.Y., tried to open a T.J. Max credit card with her Social Security number.

ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING: On July 24, Deputy Cody Dalton was dispatched to Fuller Road, where a man had accidentally shot himself. The man said he was sitting in his Jeep, putting his Glock pistol in his holster when it went off, shooting a bullet through his left leg and exiting the side of the leg. Medical units were working on the wounded man when the deputy arrived.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: On July 25, Deputy Joseph Chastain was dispatched to Hammond Road, where a man caught a burglar in his friend's house. The man told police he was looking after his friend's house while he was out of town. He went to the house and caught the burglar inside. The man said the suspect had piled up some guns and when he confronted the burglar, he pulled a knife and told the suspect to leave. Nothing was found to be stolen.

THEFT: On July 25, Deputy Mark Pulliam was dispatched to Tapp Wood Road, where the resident said he watched as a man stole his four-wheeler. The victim said the thief drove up in a Ford Ranger, loaded the four-wheeler onto a trailer and drove off. The man said he didn't approach the suspect, because he has a reputation for being violent and carrying brass knuckles. He said a possible motive was because he borrowed $100 from the suspect and has not been able to pay him back.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: On July 26, Deputy David Marcus was dispatched to Old State Road, where a man said someone hacked his online gaming account. The victim said after his account was hacked, the suspect sent him messages saying he knew where the victim lived and that he was going to accuse the victim of murder. The victim said he knew the information was fake and would not to reply to the messages.

THEFT: On July 27, Deputy David Savage was dispatched to City Hall in Hoschton, where a clerk said someone stole a U.S. flag and a Georgia state flag from the flag pole.

IDENTITY THEFT: On July 27, Deputy Roger Gober met with a man who said another person fraudulently uses his identity whenever he is caught by police for traffic offenses and other problems. The victim said the suspect has been using his name, Social Security number and date of birth in this way for more than 15 years. The victim said he was pulled over by Georgia State Patrol a year ago and was told he needed to file a police report about the suspect using his personal information.
