Sam and Ruth Wright celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The Wrights were married in Reno, Nevada on Aug. 26, 1950. They have lived in Red Bluff for 36 years.

Sam worked in the lumber industry for 40 years. He retired from management with Louisiana Pacific Lumber Co. but remained as the company’s electrical contractor for the division for several years. During those years of employment he also had his own successful electrical business.

Ruth was an excellent homemaker. Her hands were seldom idle raising four daughters. She was gifted as a seamstress and took pride in making dresses for her daughters. She passed on her other talents to her daughters, including sewing, crocheting, knitting and various crafts.

Once her daughters were older, Ruth worked various part-time jobs.

Sam and Ruth’s daughters are Elaine Shelton, Diane Norton, Marsha Kulyn and Gail Evans, and they have 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
