Arapahoe County Crime Blotter: Man who appeared to be on drugs steals speakers in front of store employee

“Prowlers” target the good stuff. Police were dispatched on reports of “car prowlers” in the 1800 block of East Girard Avenue, Englewood, around 2:30 a.m. Sept. 8. Police spotted one man peering into cars. He fled but was later apprehended. The suspect said he was looking to break into cars for loose change and CDs. A woman driving a sedan identified by a witness as being with the suspects was also pulled over and arrested.

Agitation incarceration. Police received calls about an agitated man walking without shoes in the 2900 block of West Mineral Avenue, Littleton, on Aug. 31. Officers stopped the man and found he had a warrant in Jefferson County. He was arrested.

De-fence not enough to stop tool thief. A man who keeps his work truck and tool storage container in a private, fenced-off space at Centennial Storage Ltd., 2709 W. Belleview Ave., Littleton, called police Aug. 30 to report that someone jumped the fence, accessed his unlocked camper shell and storage container and made off with more than $2,000 in tools.

Bringing the boom. An employee at the Verizon store, 7301 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, said a man came in Sept. 2 and began asking about the prices of various speakers. The man was speaking slowly and “seemed like he was on drugs.” As the employee answered his questions the man threw four speakers in a shopping basket, walked quickly out of the store and jumped over a retaining wall into a nearby RTD lot.

Top pries. A unit at CubeSmart Self Storage, 7650 S. Broadway, Littleton, was peeled open with a pry bar on overnight May 6.
