Energen adds two oil & gas veterans to board

Energen has added two longtime oil and gas industry workers to its Board of Directors.

Alan Kleier, left, and William Hargett, right, have joined the Energen Board of Directors.

William Hargett, 65, lives in Florence and has 35 years of experience in the industry, including as President and CEO of Houston Exploration. He retired in 2008. Hargett received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Alabama.

Alan Kleier, 61, retired in 2013 as vice-president of Chevron's Mid-Continent Business Unit. Kleier lives in Seminole, Fla.

Both have been elected for a three-year term, which will end in 2018. The company also re-elected Stephen Snider and Gary Youngblood for another term.

Energen Corporation (NYSE: EGN), an oil exploration and production company headquartered in Birmingham, employs about 600 people nationwide, about a third of which are in Birmingham.

"Energen is delighted to add two industry veterans to its Board of Directors," James McManus, Energen's chairman and CEO said in a statement "Both of them bring a tremendous depth of oil and gas experience to the Energen board. They will be assets to our already-strong Board of Directors," said McManus.
