JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Two tornadoes touched down in central Mississippi according to the National Weather Service.
The first tornado is classified as an EF1 and appeared at 9:33 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17th in Hinds County. The NWS states the tornado touched down briefly south of MS Hwy 467 southeast of Edwards near Cal-Maine Foods. Trees were uprooted and snapped. The tornado ultimately ended in a field north of Hwy 467 near Military Road. The tornado had winds up to 100 miles per hour.
The second tornado is classified as an EF1 tornado as well and appeared at 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17th on Rankin County. The NWS states the tornado caused tree damage along an 8.7-mile track in the county. A mobile home and a chicken house were destroyed. Also, a home received minor roof damage. This tornado had winds up to 109 miles per hour.
