Chipotle, Five Below slated to open in new Kearny shopping complex

KEARNY -- Burrito bowls are coming to West Hudson.

Chipotle has signed on as a lessee at the Kearny Plaza Shopping Center on Passaic Avenue. The center, which is located at the site of old factory building that were demolished two years ago, is roughly 100,000 square feet.

According to the latest site map for the development by New York-based Welco Realty, 5-and-dime store Five Below and Uncle Maddio's Pizza -- dubbed the original "create your own" pizza joint -- have also joined the list of tenants expected to open shop in the complex.

Welco Realty has not returned calls requesting an update on the project.

This weekend, BJ's opened its doors at the shopping center. PetSmart, Carter's children's clothing store, Sarku, and OshKosh have also leased space in Kearny, the developer's map indicates.

Additionally, SmashBurger has also proposed leasing space.
