PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For environmentally conscious consumers and businesses seeking to responsibly manage potentially dangerous electronic waste (E-Waste), the Arizona Technology Council Foundation supported by Data Doctors and Westech Recyclers is holding its biannual Technology Recycling Day on Saturday, October 24th. Now in its sixth year and open to the public, the event is designed to provide Arizona citizens a pathway to support the growing global eco-movement.

“As technology innovation continues to provide us with increasingly sophisticated and low cost consumer electronics, the e-waste problem is as pervasive as ever,” said Steven G. Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council. “By hosting this event, we hope to bring awareness to this dangerous waste issue that can’t be ignored and offer a solution to the community.”
All donated equipment will be handled through the Arizona Technology Council Foundation’s TechTerra Program in partnership with Westech Recyclers. As part of that program, a portion of the equipment is donated to support educational programs and community facilities throughout Arizona.
Drop-off Dates, Locations and Times:
Receipts for tax donation purposes will be available at all locations. There will be a nominal fee of $15 collected for each Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) television and monitor collected at the Honeywell and Intel locations to cover the costs of recycling the lead glass. Data Doctors locations will not accept CRT televisions and monitors.
The following drop-off locations are open to the public and are accepting donations on Saturday, October 24:
- Honeywell, 21111 19th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85027 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Intel, 4500 S. Dobson Road, Chandler, AZ 85248 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
- Intel, 5000 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler, AZ 85226 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
- All Data Doctors locations in the state of Arizona including Flagstaff, Tucson and Phoenix from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. A complete list of Data Doctors locations can be found at http://www.datadoctors.com/mkt/AZ.
Demonstrating corporate responsibility, Avnet, Henkel, One Neck IT Solutions and the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park are also participating in the Arizona Technology Council Recycling program by holding employee-only events at their respective sites. Interested relevant parties should contact their human resources department for further information.
The electronic equipment and components acceptable for drop-off include personal computers, computer peripherals, networking equipment, main frames, servers, point-of-sale equipment, printers, audio/visual and telecom devices, surplus metals, wire, cable and power strips. Miscellaneous electronic items such as test and/or lab equipment are also acceptable.
Those wishing to donate their hard drives but want to make sure that the information is securely wiped can drop off their donations at the Data Doctors Data Recovery & Forensics lab in Tempe located at 725 S. Rural Rd #107, Tempe, AZ 85281.
