Animal rescue contest

MUNCIE – As part of Tractor Supply Co.’s annual Pet Appreciation Week, Sept. 16-20, Tractor Supply is awarding a total of $25,000 in grants, including a $10,000 grand prize, to qualifying animal nonprofits through its “Rescue Your Rescue” social media contest.

Tractor Supply is asking customers to nominate their favorite shelter in the Muncie area by submitting a photo and brief statement of why the shelter is deserving. Nominations are open Aug. 21-30, and all details on how to enter will be found at Facebook.com/TractorSupplyCo.

Tractor Supply will narrow down the nominations to 10 finalists, and the public will vote Sept. 5-13 at Facebook.com/TractorSupplyCo to determine the final standings. The Rescue Your Rescue grants awarded range from $10,000 for the grand prize to $200 for 10th place.

Tractor Supply’s Pet Appreciation Week, or PAW, is an event to celebrate pets and introduce families to the joy of owning animals. As part of the main event on Sept. 19, Tractor Supply stores will feature pet adoptions, demonstrations on pet nutrition, discounts on pet food and supplies, free giveaways and in-store prize drawings.

Youth soccer league

MUNCIE – The Friends of the Conley Youth Soccer League is taking registration now until Sept. 10 for the 2015 Fall Season.

The league is for children in grades K-8. Practices and games will be at the Muncie Area Career Center, 2500 N. Elgin St., Sept. 26-Oct. 31. The registration fee is $20 and applications can be printed out from facebook.com/focsoccer.

Optimist Club

MUNCIE – The Muncie Optimist Club will have Muncie Mall manager Michele Meregaglia as its speaker at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at MCL Cafeteria. Guests are welcome.

Intro to beekeeping

HARTFORD CITY – A free introductory program designed to give an overview of the hobby of beekeeping will be offered 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Blackford County 4-H Building, 310 E. Park Ave.
