Multiple drug overdoses keep officers and paramedics busy: Mayfield Heights Police Blotter

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio

Overdose, Summit Drive:

An Avon Lake man, 36, was the victim of a suspected drug overdose at a home around 2:30 a.m. Aug. 14. He was revived by paramedics with multiple doses of Narcan. Hypodermic needles and a small bag, containing a powdery substance, were found in his pants pockets. His girlfriend, who found him on the bathroom floor, said he had taken a Percocet earlier in the day but seemed fine.

Overdose, Mayfield Road:

Officers responded to an alley behind Pick Your Pie and Mayfield Gun at 4:17 p.m. Aug. 13 for a report of a possible overdose by a 30-year-old Mayfield Heights man. He was revived by paramedics and taken to the hospital, but not before he told officers he may have overdosed on narcotics he had stolen from someone. There was suspected heroin found at the scene, but the man denied possessing it. Two witnesses said they were walking in the alley when the saw the man on the ground. They said they did not know him, but officers were suspicious of their claim. Multiple drug-related charges are pending against the man.

Overdose, Mayfield Road:

Officers responded to Dunkin Donuts at 11:55 p.m. Aug. 13 after a woman reported her daughter had smoke crack cocaine the previous night and was not feeling well. Paramedics administered Narcan to revive the 39-year-old University Heights woman. She was taken to the hospital and later told officers she relapsed the previous night when a man she was with in Cleveland bought and smoked crack. She said she gave into pressure and smoked it too. She said she was so upset with herself the following morning, she figured the only way to break her depressed state was to use heroin. She then drove to Cleveland, purchased heroin and used it before meeting her mother at Dunkin Donuts. Several indicators of drug abuse were located in her car and the woman is facing potential drug-related charges.

Disturbance, Golden Gate Plaza:

Officers responded to TGI Fridays around 11 p.m. Aug. 15 for a report of an unwanted customer. The manager said the man was upset because he was told his party of 13 people would have sit at different tables. She said he yelled at her and disrespected her. Officers spoke to the man and he left the restaurant.

Disturbance, Mayfield Road:

A man said Aug. 16 his ex-wife threw coffee at him because she was upset he was at her apartment having lunch with their son. The man was not sure he wanted to file a report because he said he also threw milk on her.

Fraud, SOM Center Road:

A woman reported Aug. 15 her purse was stolen from a park in Maple Heights and she had since learned someone used a debit card from it at the Key Bank ATM in Mayfield Heights. She said a $100 check was deposited and the funds were then withdrawn. She said there were more transactions made at an unknown Walmart location. In all, she said the account was fraudulently used for $2,420.74. The bank's fraud department is investigating.

Assist general, Mayfield Road:

A Villa Serena resident said Aug. 15 a man that she has allowed to live with her was becoming abusive and refusing to move out of the apartment. Officers found the man, 49, at Walmart and arrested him on a warrant out of Euclid. He was told the woman would be packing up his belongings and he could pick them up at the apartment's front office. He was told to have no further contact with the woman or the apartment staff.

Theft, Lander Road:

A man said Aug. 13 a horse trailer was missing from his yard when he returned home from out of the country in October. He believed a friend took it down south but recently learned from a friend that it was on a farm in Geneva. He had no idea how it got there or who owned the farm. The Ashtabula County Sherriff's Department is assisting the man in retrieving his trailer.

Aggravated robbery, Mayfield Road:

Citizen's Bank was robbed at 2:55 p.m. Aug. 12 by a male suspect who left with an unspecified amount of money and was not located. He was last seen running westbound toward The Vitamin Shoppe. Employees said the suspect held his hand in his pocket as if he was concealing a gun, but no weapon was seen. The FBI is investigating.

Theft, Golden Gate Plaza:

A woman said Aug. 11 she believed her wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping at Marshall's Clothing. There were no suspects identified.

Theft, SOM Center Road:

A Cleveland woman, 30, was arrested at Target Aug. 11 for the suspected theft of merchandise she concealed by placing into her purse. An employee said she threw all the merchandise on the ground as the staff followed her into the parking lot. She denied taking anything from the store when officers found her purse empty.
