AeroVironment sustainment orders grow
AeroVironment has announced that it has received ten orders from the US Army since May for RQ-20A Puma AE and RQ-11B Raven unmanned aircraft system (UAS) sustainment. The total value of the orders has reached $47.1 million.
The RQ-11B Raven is a lightweight UAS designed for high mobility and rapid deployment for military applications that need low-altitude surveillance and reconnaissance intelligence.
The RQ-20A Puma AE is designed for land-based and maritime operations. The small UAS can land on ground or salt water.
Kirk Flittie, vice president and general manager, UAS business segment, AeroVironment, said: ‘Sustaining the army's large fleet of Raven and Puma AE systems ensures that soldiers continue to have the most effective, reliable and adaptable small UAS available to support them wherever and whenever required.
‘These contracts assure that American soldiers can continue to rely on our combat-proven solutions to deliver powerful insight, on-demand, that helps them operate more safely and effectively.’
