CarMax in Newark is hiring for 25 jobs.

Used car retailer CarMax is hiring for 25 positions at its Newark area location.

The jobs are among 2,000 positions the company is seeking to fill at its nearly 150 locations nationwide.

The majority of the open positions the chain is seeking to fill across the country are in service operations, including detailers and technicians. Additional jobs are available in sales, purchasing and business offices.

Positions include full- and part-time jobs, with day and evening shifts available.

CarMax offers its full-time employees health coverage, paid time off and retirement options, as well as "competitive pay." Employees also get discounts on car purchases and other services.

Technicians require previous automotive experience, but most other positions do not.

Applications are only being accepted online at jobs.carmax.com.

Created as a division of the now-defunct Circuit City, the first CarMax opened in 1993 near Richmond, Virginia. The company acquires inventory from trade-ins and sales rather than auctions and focuses on its no-haggle pricing and simple financing.

CarMax says it sold more than 580,000 used cars and 376,000 wholesale vehicles at in-store auctions during the last year.

Company officials say they now plans to open 13-16 new stores each year for the next several years.

Delaware's only CarMax location at 2070 Stafford Way, off Ogletown Road, opened in 2014.
