Everest Re Group, Ltd. (NYSE: RE) announced today that Michael Karmilowicz joins the Company to lead Everest Specialty Underwriters (ESU), the management and professional liability unit of its U.S. Insurance Operations.

Mr. Karmilowicz joins Everest from Zurich North America, where he served as Executive Vice President and Head of their Management Solutions Group, responsible for a significant portfolio of management and professional liability lines of business. Prior to joining Zurich in 2009, Mr. Karmilowicz had been a Vice President with Hartford Financial Products (HFP), managing several of its professional liability underwriting units. Mr. Karmilowicz joined HFP from Reliance National in 2000, where he had held a variety of increasingly responsible management and underwriting positions.

Mr. Karmilowicz will assume his new position with immediate effect and will be based in the organization’s New York City office.
